Σύμφωνα με τη δεύτερη παραλλαγή, ο ίδιος ο Δίας σπάζει το κέρατο και το χαρίζει στη νύμφη Αμάλθεια, προικίζοντάς το με θαυματουργές ιδιότητες: του δίνει τη δύναμη να προσφέρει στον κάτοχό του οτιδήποτε επιθυμήσει.
Σημασία: Το κέρατο της Αμάλθειας συμβολίζει την αφθονία, τον πλούτο και, γενικά, κάθε αγαθό.
