Beware of Danaus(Greeks) Bearing Gifts

I fear the Danae and gifts bearing, said the high priest Laokoon to the Trojans to prevent them from accepting into their walls, the Trojan Horse, which the Greeks had let down their castles. 

Meaning: We must protect ourselves from an enemy whatever it may seem generous or benevolent.

Φοβού τους Δαναούς και Δώρα Φέροντας

Φοβούμαι τούς Δαναούς και δώρα φέροντας, είπε ό αρχιερέας Λαοκόων στους Τρώες για να τούς αποτρέψει να δεχθούν στα τείχη τον Δούρειο Ίππο, τον οποίο οι Έλληνες είχαν αφήσει κάτω από τα κάστρα τους.

Σημασία: Πρέπει να προφυλαγόμαστε από έναν εχθρό ανεξάρτητα αν φαίνεται γενναιόδωρος ή αγαθός προς στιγμήν.
